Our Merino Wool soccer socks (the first of their kind) have many naturally occurring benefits that you won’t get from wearing other brands. To help you understand why we think Merino Wool is so incredible, we’ve come up with a list of some of its proven key benefits.
1. Moisture absorbing
Merino Wool is one of the few natural materials that can transport moisture in vapor form, making it more breathable than most fabrics. It does this by transporting fluids away from the skin, similar to some synthetic materials.
2. Dry Feel
Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight without feeling wet and so it doesn’t feel moist on the skin when you sweat — unlike synthetic and cotton socks that feel wet even after absorbing less moisture.
3. Natural Warmth
Due to the curly structure of Merino Wool yarns, our socks are able to store heat; and since Merino Wool is so effective at transporting moisture away from the skin, our socks will feel warm even when soaked.
4. Natural Cooling
When your body warms up, the water stored in the Merino fibre will begin to evaporate. The impact of this evaporative process — the transition from liquid to vapor — is very effective at cooling down your body.
5. No Itching
Merino Wool fibers are up to 8 times thinner than a human hair and also much thinner than ordinary wool. Therefore our socks feel soft and comfortable against your skin.
6. Less Odor
Naturally, far fewer odor-causing bacteria are formed in Merino Wool. The fatty acid lanolin breaks down bacteria and wool’s moisture-absorbing ability creates a dry environment where bacteria cannot thrive.
Ultimately this means you don’t need to wash our socks as often as you would other socks. In fact, you can wear the same pair of socks multiple times.
7. Dries Fast
Merino wool dries as quickly as other materials of similar weight. The thinner the fabric the faster it will dry.
8. Natural Elasticity
Merino Wool is made from the same proteins as human hair. The individual fibers can be bent and stretched in any direction tens of thousands of times without being damaged.
This natural elasticity means our socks offer an extra bit of stretch, without the need to mix in synthetic materials such as Lycra or Spandex.
